Fisheries Biologist – Marysville
Responsibilities: We are seeking a highly motivated individual with experience in one or more of the following disciplines: wetlands and riparian habitats, fisheries science, and aquatic ecology. Successful candidate will provide analysis of impacts to fisheries and aquatic resources arising from development (residential, commercial, utilities) with respect to avoiding impacts to aquatic resources and/or developing mitigation plans to compensate for any impacts. Responsibilities include environmental permitting at the City, County, State and Federal levels; aquatic habitat inventories; fish presence/absence determinations; and Endangered Species Act consultation.
Qualifications: Requires a BS in the biological sciences (or related field) with emphasis on aquatic resources, such as fisheries science, aquatic ecology, or marine biology and a minimum of two years conducting research or environmental consultation. A firm knowledge of Pacific Northwest salmonid life history and habitat requirements is essential. The successful candidate will have knowledge of the federal Endangered Species Act, the federal Clean Water Act, the Magnuson-Stevens Act (Essential Fish Habitat), and National Environmental Policy Act with emphasis on ESA consultation. The ability to manage projects, negotiate with agencies and stakeholders, work independently, and coordinate with multiple agencies and organizations is essential. Must have demonstrable technical report writing skills. Wetland delineation skills would be desirable.
